This is The Josh Speaks. You’re watching The Josh Speaks. Sometimes we look at shyness as a kind of weakness. As if we don’t have what it takes to make our relationship great and because of that it’s just gonna fail.

However, it’s incredibly common to feel shy around someone that you barely know and it make take you time to open up and just be yourself. Try to think of this connection you have with this person as being the kind you would have with one of your closest friends. As time goes on and you get to know them a little bit better, you can joke, you can laugh and you can share stories with them.

If you feel like your relationship is so brand new that you guys are still practically just crushes, check out my video right here where I go more in depth on how to not be shy around your crush. Another way to overcome your shyness is to just be straight up honest about how you feel. If you feel nervous around them and don’t know what to talk about, just put it out there and let them know, “Hey, I’m feeling kind of shy. But I want you to know that I do care about you”. By being open about how you feel, your partner will stress less because they know where you stand and will allow them to open up more and share their feelings with you too.https://www.toptenreviews.com/best-online-dating-sites

So what do you do if both of you are shy and you don’t really know how to communicate that clearly with one another? That’s perfectly fine too because once you see that your partner is able to openly communicate with you too, that should be the opening for you to also share your feelings. In new relationships, you may feel pressure from your friends and society in general telling you you need to move faster in what you’re doing in your relationship. But in a situation where you feel shy around them, you may not even know what the next stage should be.

If you do run into those kind of situations where you feel awkward putting your arm around your crush or holding their hand, check out my video right here where I go more in depth on how to touch and interact with your crush. There is no connection between how long you’ve been in a relationship and how far in you should be. For example, if you’re one month into the relationship, you don’t have to be making out with that person.

You could still be getting to know them a little bit better. When it comes to making plans though, you may run into the type of situation where you’re too shy to actually ask to hang out, so what do you do? The next best thing is to message your crush, whether it be on Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat, build some kind of text based relationship if you have to. Starting with this as the baseline allows you to slowly progress and move up in your type of conversation with them.

Remember, your initial conversations should be similar to how you would talk to someone that’s your friend. You can share a little bit about yourself, things you’re interested in and ask them questions so that you can learn more about them as well. Plus, if making plans with them to meet up on the spot is just too hard for them to do, try to organize your plans through text first.

You can do something as basic as simply saying “hey, let’s meet up outside the cafeteria today at 3PM”. That way you can avoid the awkwardness of trying to make plans with each other on the spot and not really knowing what to do. Use texting as the baseline to help you set up plans for in-person meet ups. At the end of the day, everything is small steps.

Try to set up very very basic initial dates, simple things like going for a walk together, hanging out after school, or even meeting up for lunch. You can always have online dates as well, whether it’s through Skype or video chat. Try to make plans with each other online if that’s easier for you to do.
